Computer games can now be played with all the precision and sensitivity needed for a safe and soft Space Shuttle touchdown. A game-controlling joystick for computer games and entertainment has been designed modeling the control sticks used by pilots aboard the Space Shuttle. Originally crafted for use by astronauts on the ground to practice runway touchdowns, as well as for use in-orbit to sharpen maneuvering and landing techniques before leaving orbit, the joystick was adapted to bring the action of the Shuttle hand controller down to Earth.
